By 2012 the carrier had been upgraded to an Isuzu, the derrick extended along with a winch & a bean pump being added. A larger pullback ram was added & the old VW engine was replaced with a Nissan SD22 diesel engine. We also purchased a Hino bevertailed truck to carry the upgraded Ingersoll Rand 750/250 compressor.

In 2019 we purchased this 1995 F90 MAN 8x8 replacing the 1987 MAN

In 2011 we purchased this old custom built drill rig which was on a Bedford TK carrier. It was ideal for a beginner as it had a very basic setup & was sorely under powered, allowing us to rapidly learn where any improvements needed to be made. We initially coupled it to a 900/150 Atlas Copco compressor which was also carried on another old Bedford TK

In 2020 we also purchased this F90 6x6 Water truck as a backup for deeper wells & higher water supplies where required.

Then in 2014 we had quite a change in fortune when we managed to purchase this Mantis 600 drill rig at an auction. Since then it has undergone several improvements, while also being refurbished & painted. A Cummins 210hp deck engine runs the hydraulics and a Cummins N14 runs the 900/350 compressor.

In 2017 We purchased this 1987 MAN 8x8 33.342 and added it to our fleet, replacing the Custom Carrier.

In 2014 we also managed to aquire this Custom Carrier 6x6 truck which is considered the ideal drilling support truck.

Also in 2017 we were lucky enough to acquire this MP 255 100 Mud cleaner built by Tibban in the US. These MudPuppy's as they are known as, make mud drilling extremely efficient and by keeping the drilling fluid clean it helps keep much more control on down hole issues.

In 2021 we purchased this DESCO 7000 for larger Class 2 production wells. It comes with a rod loader, 9t winch and rated to 30t pullback allowing depths of over 600m.

A Brief history.

After the drought of 2010 in the Perth region, we needed to search for more water for our orchard, however after suffering so much fruit damage from water stress, our financial ability to pay for this was severely diminished. In a desperate bid to find water we took a gamble & purchased an old rig at the tail end of the 2010/11 summer.

As soon as Eric started drilling he became hooked & never looked back. The challenges he faced coupled with the excitement of finding water meant more & more time was spent in this field. Having watched drillers for over twenty years he had a basic understanding of the method, but once in control he discovered an even deeper passion for the whole process.

Eric still runs his orchard with his wife Sheuli & their eight children, but has reduced the production area in order to concentrate the adequate attention required to his drilling business. Having completed several ADITC courses he'd highly recommend them to any other driller. He was supervised while aquiring his drilling qualifications by local Pickering Brook driller & good mate Lorry Della Pollina from DP Drilling & still seeks his advice regularly on all things drilling. Eric is licensed as a Class 2 driller being endorsed for both rotary air & rotary mud & is a member of the ADIA.

Since 2018 Karragullen Water Drilling has also enjoyed a strong working relationship with BD Water, drilling anything from granite bores in the hills to Leederville production wells north of Gingin and beyond.
